Carhartt Self Portrait

This self portrait was done early in 2026.  I wanted this to be another studio portrait in the series of paintings done from life in my studio.  I'm not really a portrait painter and have done maybe a dozen in my 40 years of painting.  It has a more loosely applied execution than any of the other portraits which reflects not only changes in my thinking about how I approach painting but also a concession to the fact that I am now being treated for macular degeneration, a condition that makes fine focus control of a brush a bit of a challenge.
